Whether you collect sneakers or boots, there’s nothing quite like opening the box of a fresh pair and getting a whiff of that leather goodness. It’s hard not to break out your new pair and we couldn’t wait to test out Sutro’s Alder Boot in Red-brown. You may remember our previous spread on a few of their styles, which also included the fan favorite Alder Boot. Read our thoughts on this pair below. Photography: Sean Martin for The Primary Mag.

First Impressions

We knew what we were getting into with this pair so there were no surprises. However, it didn’t take long to grow a fondness for the Red-brown leather. It offers a different shade of brown from what we’re guessing to be missing from most people’s collection. The leather is soft to the touch and the cap toe is a nice touch to give it the versatility you’d want from a pair of boots. You can only expect the Alder to get better with age and wear.

Comfort & Fit

Sutro makes some of the most comfortable pairs of boots we’ve owned with the Alder being no exception. Their signature sole along with a stacked leather heel, premium cushioned insole, rubber outsole, and full glove leather lining give it the support and comfort you need for all-day wear. If you haven’t tried the Alder on in-person, it runs a little snug, but you can always go a half size up from your normal boot size.

Closing

With a price tag of only $218, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a boot worth the value as the Alder. It not only looks good but with Goodyear Welt Construction and quality materials, you can feel good about in investing in a pair like this. Find this style and other colors now available at Sutro.
