As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The saying is especially true for watches. If you’re trying to be cheap, the odds are you’ll end up spending more money in the long run as opposed to investing in something you’d keep for decades. The same can be said about Ballast’s Trafalgar watch. Give you a different style than our August review of AVI-8’s Lancaster Bomber Watch, this submarine designed watch embodies the brand’s commitment to quality and functionality. Photography: TStoff for The Primary.

First Impressions

From the packaging to the look and feel of the watch, you can tell this is a high-quality piece. The attention to detail throughout is impressive from the hand-stitching on the leather strap to the stainless steel submarine buckle. We’re big fans of the nautical theme and is executed perfectly.

Construction

Ballast only uses the best quality materials on this automatic watch. The most interesting design of the watch is the canteen lock, which is used to protect the setter button. The lock itself is made up of several component and speaks to the time that went into creating the Trafalgar. As for the casing of the watch, the outer gold ring is a nice touch to complement the inner ring also inspired by the lines of a submarine.

Closing

The Trafalgar might come in at the higher end of your budget with a price tag of $499, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find one of this caliber. However, if you have a smaller wrist and tend not to wear larger watches, you may want to look at it in-person. There’s just so much to love about this watch and sure to be the highlight of any outfit. Get yours today by visiting the Ballast online store.
